Congressman Jim Hanley was unquestionably one of the best House representatives Central NY ever hosted, and the James M. Hanley Federal Building in Syracuse honors his reputation. In the sixties and seventies I inundated his D.C. and Syracuse offices with letters regarding the UFO subject, and whether I had concerns about the topic in general or needed government documents relating in large or small ways to UFOs, he kindly fulfilled my requests as often as possible, even when "butting heads" with military or government officials to gain information.
The June, 1965 letter shown here is typical, and in this case he obtained several Air Force regulations for me. He also acknowledged receiving a copy of NICAP's UFO Investigator I had sent to keep him informed. Like many members of both the House and Senate, he was intrigued by the UFO evidence, but maintained a reluctance to comment or take action publicly. Nevertheless, I deeply appreciated the late Mr. Hanley's assistance over the years and I'll be putting more of his letters on display in months to come.

Aliens may be trying to steal our oil - and there's nothing you can do about it.
See, if we assume the laws of physics operate consistently throughout the galaxy, an alien spacecraft traveling millions of miles to Earth would eventually need some kind of fuel, maybe some form of hydrogen fusion or a gravity drive. Another possibly: a UFO would need something as low-tech as gasoline.
I know what you're thinking - if aliens have the ability to fly across the universe surely they've progressed beyond the same fuel that powers weed-whackers. But new photographic evidence suggests that at least one type of alien craft does, indeed, run on gasoline.
Over the summer of 2012, crude oil was disappearing from an oil company in Cotulla, Texas. Thinking the culprit was a human rebelling against high gas prices, the oil company set up security cameras to catch the thief in the act.
But the cameras didn't catch an earthly crook. Instead, on the night of July 5, video surveillance captured the image of what some experts believe is an alien spacecraft stopping by for refueling. The spacecraft is disc-shaped and has three visible running lights along its edge. It appears to be hovering at a least a foot off the ground.
The story and photo was reported to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) in the last few days, and is already sparking controversy in the Ufology community. If it turns out that certain types of UFOs do indeed run on combustion engines, this would not only change the way in which ufology thinks about alien spacecraft, but it may also change NASA. If it only takes small amounts of crude oil to power interstellar flight, who knows what the future of space travel might bring?

Se ne discute da decenni, ormai, ma in questi ultimi mesi, il dibattito che possa esistere davvero la vita nell'Universo `e diventato assai intenso.Da un lato ci sono gli astrofisici, che analizzando i dati degli strumenti osservativi di ultima generazione, hanno catalogato oltre 400 esopianeti attorno a stelle spesso molto vicine alla Terra.Dall'altro lato l'opinione pubblica, che sul web e non solo, sembra ormai pronta e attende freneticamente la notizia della scoperta di vita aliena.A ci`o si associano i planetologi della Nasa, che ormai palesemente stanno cercando forme primitive di vita su Marte, Europa e Titano.Proprio su Titano, le recenti conferme della presenza di oceani liquidi di metano, stanno destando la curiosit'a spasmodica per la possibile presenza di batteri detti "estremofili", capaci cio`e di resistere e sopravvivere adeguatamente in condizioni ambientali estreme.Marte ormai `e noto come sia al centro di continue analisi e giungono dalla NASA sempre nuove scoperte, nuove rivelazioni, nuove foto che puntano tutte sulla medesima conclusione: non `e escluso che sia esistita la vita, non `e escluso che esista ancora.Ma dai tempi del progetto SETI e degli articoli e libri pro-ET dello scienziato Carl Sagan, ne `e davvero passata di acqua sotto i ponti.
Sembra infatti che la NASA stia preparando le sue prossime missioni osservative solo e soltanto con lo scopo di accertare la presenza di pianeti rocciosi tipo la Terra e scoprire la vita extraterrestre.Il telescopio KEPLERO sta scandagliando il cielo e non passer`a molto tempo che probabilmente scover`a le "superterre" e i pianeti di questo tipo, oltre a quelli giganti di tipo gioviano, che ha tra l'altro di recente gi`a individuato.Ma al suo occhio lungimirante si affiancheranno nei prossimi anni il TESS e il WEB, altri due potentissimi telescopi che avranno l'esplicito compito di scrutare il cielo dallo spazio, proprio per trovare candidati pianeti rocciosi di piccolo taglio per poi permettere al Keplero di accertare la presenza dell'acqua e dell'anitride carbonica.Si pensa gi`a a come indiviaduare su di essi la presenza indiretta di vita, grazie ad un'analisi chimica dei deboli segnali infrarossi che saranno ricevuti dalle emissioni luminose dalla loro possibile biosfera-ombra.Ma la vera notizia, in attesa che ci`o accada `e che, da ogni parte, pare che le menti pi`u intransigenti del panorama scientifico mondiale si siano ormai aperte.
Esempio pi`u eclatante `e lo Stato del Vaticano. Il 6 novembre del 2009, sono stati organizzati dalla Pontificia Accademia delle Scienze insieme alla Specola Vaticana una serie di incontri sulla possibilita' di un'altra vita intelligente nell'universo oltre all'uomo e sul da farsi di fronte al possibile primo contatto.
Per padre Jose' Funes, direttore della Specola Vaticana, "finora sappiamo che ci sono circa 350 stelle che hanno pianeti che girano loro intorno; tra questi pianeti, potrebbero essercene di simili alla terra. Ecco, questo e' lo scopo dell'astrobiologia: cercare possibilita' di vita nell'universo, al di fuori della terra".
Durante la settimana di studio, '"'si presenteranno gli ultimi risultati per aiutarci a capire meglio a che punto siamo nella ricerca della vita nell'universo; e anche per fare il punto della situazione in una disciplina in cui crediamo che sia molto importante che la Chiesa sia coinvolta in questo tipo di ricerca, almeno nel seguire i principali risultati riconosciuti dalla comunita' scientifica".
Come se non bastasse, lo stesso datato progetto SETI, si `e rinnovato e ampliato chiedendo l'appoggio mondiale per la decodifica dei deboli segnali che giungono dal cosmo.Infatti con un piccolo software installabile sulproprio pc, scaricabile qui, si pu`o contribuire a decifrare tali segnali, allegerendo ed accelerando il lavoro dello stesso ente.Cosa dire poi delle tante nazioni che hanno declassificato gli archivi segreti sugli avvistamenti UFO?Dopo la declasssificazione di qualche caso cinese e russo e un corposo archivio della Gran Bretagna e dell'Italia, `e di qualche giorno fa, la notizia che presto leggeremo i dossier della Nuova Zelanda, paese lontano geograficamente dall'Occidente ma ricco di testimonianze.
Sar`a l'aumento di cellulari con videocamera, di videocamere e fotocamere digitali, ma giungono sempre pi`u frequentemente da ogni parte del mondo nuovi documenti su misteriosi oggetti volanti. Alcune nazioni sembra no che si stiano preparando al contatto con un atteggiamento aperto sulla questione.Ma le domande che vorrei porvi, sono quelle che tutti noi ci poniamo.Siamo davvero prossimi a questo evento che potrebbe per sempre cambiare la nostra storia?Da dove vengono questi esseri che sorvolano i nostri cieli? Si tratta solo e soltanto di prototipi spia super tecnologici o c'e' dell'altro?
L'interesse per la questione `e gi`a da tempo abbondantemente uscita dagli schermi cinematografici e il dibattito si `e spogliato quasi del tutto di giornalisti imbroglioni, di falsi profeti o di ciarlatani scrittori. Di fatto, siamo fortunatamente lontani anche dai dibattiti fasulli con gente di basso spessore come il giornalista Santilli del caso emblematico "Autopsia di Roswell".
A parlare degli E.T. adesso sono gli stessi scienziati che fino a qualche anno fa negavano a priori l'esistenza di vita.Un caso esemplare per restare in Italia `e l'astrofisica Margherita Hack, che ha da tempo abbandonato le sue posizioni intransigenti sulla questione e in pi`u di una intervista e pubblicazione ha ammesso che l'Universo da noi conosciuto pullula di vita.Ma se il suo nome pu`o sembrare piccolo di fronte a scienziati di fama mondiale, cosa dire allora dell'imminente incontro che terranno i membri della Royal Society di Londra, con illustri ospiti dalla NASA, dall'ESA e da ogni parte delmondo? Da quanto trapelato dall'articolo del Times, si parler`a degli effetti sulla scienza e sulla societ`a che la scoperta di vita extraterrestre scatener`a.E' come se, di fatto la scoperta sia gi`a stata fatta e si discuta gi`a del poi.Quando avverr`a dunque, e... come sar`a E.T.?Un battere, un essere primordiale, un umanoide?Domande senza risposte? Eppure sono uno che non si sbilancia molto su questi temi cosi delicati e spesso preda di facili sensazionalismi, ma le premesse ci sono tutte che presto giunga dal cielo o semplicemente dagli archivi dei governi, il segnale che non siamo soli nel freddo e immenso Universo!

While on afternoon break at work in Scarborough I noticed some movement of something directly south some miles near or over Lake Ontario, so within a few seconds grabbed my camera and took three pictures.

Well some minutes later- reviewing my photos I found something strange on this photo taken at 3:13 pm. The temperature high was 6 Celsius that would be cold even for insects. Therefore I believe that we can rule insects out.

This black something has no defined shape and came out only in the second picture of three pictures taken.
Once again unidentified due to distance and distorted - weird! What do the readers of UFO Digest think?

Stuffed Footer of Event/Sighting: Two lights looked benefit from aircraft lights which we bring into being ordinarily over our house but impending in at a manifest angle. Seemed to be downhill benefit from an aircraft (nearby was no engine baloney) I anxiety it may be in bother as it was way to low to the ground and off the normal course that the planes reach your destination over our house. Each the lights wherever not dazzling benefit from normal aircraft lights. I started to judge the plane would crash quite versatile to our house if it continued the lights wherever very versatile to the ground no aircraft that fine would be that versatile. The lights seemed to cut progressing protester as a consequence hovered in the air. The lights as a consequence started to walk off slight. They turned from a fixed cut to a perpendicular cut and continued to get walk off slight. The immoral light got less important and expand yellowish-brown in color and seemed to buffalo hide. The light at the top started to banner and as a consequence finished to.
