Spacex Dragon Cargo Capsule Arrives At Space Station

Spacex Dragon Cargo Capsule Arrives At Space Station
A SpaceX Dragon cargo capsule is perched at the end of the International Space Station's robotic arm after being grappled by astronauts on March 3, 2013, during the CRS-2 (SpaceX 2) cargo delivery mission.

A privately built robotic space capsule filled with supplies for the International Space Station successfully arrived at the orbiting laboratory early Sunday (March 3), one day later than planned due to a temporary thruster glitch.

The unmanned Dragon cargo capsule, built by the private spaceflight company SpaceX, was captured by astronauts wielding the space station's robotic arm at 5:31 a.m. EST (1031 GMT) as both spacecraft sailed 243 miles (391 kilometers) above Northern Ukraine.

"Congratulations to the SpaceX and the Dragon team in Houston and in California," space station commander Kevin Ford, a NASA astronaut, radioed Mission Control after the successful Dragon arrival. "They say it is not where you start, but where you finish that counts and you guys really finished this one on the mark. You're aboard and we've got lots of science on there to bring aboard and get done."

Americans Ride To Space Is In Question

Americans Ride To Space Is In Question
"AMERICANS' RIDE TO SPACE IS IN QUESTION" rings out the story title in today's edition of THE NEW YORK TIMES as the Soyuz TMA-22 scheduled for launch on September 22, 2011 is now to be delayed, at least into October. The story is echoed in the BBC, and other international media.

Astronauts and cosmonauts were slated to board the Soyuz TMA-22 spacecraft for a ride to orbit and subsequent docking with the International Space Station but that was prior to the loss of the unmanned Progress-44 freighter with a fiery crash in rural Siberia. The Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan will now fall silent as the Soyuz boosters now under intensive scrutiny. It was the first launch failure of the Progress since first launched in 1978.

Russia's federal space agency is a sole source provider of orbital taxi spaceflights to the ISS for American astronauts at the price of 63-million per seat. NASA ASTRONAUT DAN BURBANK has the next assigned seat in the now delayed Soyuz TMA-22 flight from the Kazakhstan launch pad. The launch failure will impact that LAUNCH MANIFEST to the International Space Station.

The source of the failure of the Progress-44 vessel has been linked to the third stage of the Soyuz-U. The third stage is identical to that used in the Russian human-rated Soyuz boosters. No manned launches will be allowed until a special investigating commission completes its work, which may take a month or more, says one NEWS REPORT FROM RUSSIA.

Additionally Russian space authorities have put off the launch of a new Soyuz-2 carrier rocket from the Plesetsk Space Center in northern Russia for the beginning of September, the commander of Russian Space Troops, Gen Oleg Ostapenko said Thursday in the wake of the loss of the Progress-44 cargo freighter spacecraft.

On the other hand, the Soyuz-2 maiden flight from EUROPE'S SPACE BASE IN KOUROU, FRENCH GUIANA will go ahead as scheduled on Oct. 20, 2011 says Arianespace in A REPORT.

5 Ancient Alien Planets Found

5 Ancient Alien Planets Found

By Mike Wall

Space.com

1-27-15

Five rocky alien worlds that are 80 percent as old as the universe itself have been discovered, suggesting that Earth-size planets have been a feature of the Milky Way galaxy almost since its beginning.

The new found exoplanets circle Kepler-444, an 11.2-billion-year-old star about 25 percent smaller than the sun that lies 117 light-years from Earth. All of the worlds are Venus-size or smaller and are therefore rocky, though scientists know nothing else about their composition.

All five alien planets complete an orbit in less than 10 days, meaning theyre almost certainly too hot to support life as we know it. But Kepler-444 hints at the existence of other ancient planetary systems that may be more hospitable, researchers said....

Satellite Observatory To Search For Earth Like Planets And Organic Chemicals Common In Space

Welcome! "Alien Life" tracks the latest discoveries and thoughts in the various elements of the famous Drake Equation. You may notice that this and future entries are shorter than usual; career, family and book deal commitments have forced me to cut back some of my projects. Now, here's today's news:

g ABODES - Scientists are designing a satellite-based observatory that could provide a sensitive survey of the entire sky to search for planets. The team hopes that the system could rapidly discover Earth-like planets. See article.

g LIFE - A team of NASA exobiology researchers have revealed organic chemicals that play a crucial role in the chemistry of life are common in space. See article.

g MESSAGE - Just how does SETI work? Here's a good primer for those looking to get a basic overview. See article.

g AFTERMATH - In order to retrieve samples from another place in the solar system that might harbor life, careful planning is required to ensure that mission designs incorporate measures to safeguard both the Earth and other solar system bodies from cross contamination. These measures, collectively known as planetary protection measures, are actually tied to international law. Note: This article is from 1999. See article.

Engineers Assessing Cassini Spacecraft

Engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., are working to understand what caused NASA's Cassini spacecraft to put itself into "safe mode," a precautionary standby mode. Cassini entered safe mode around 4 p.m. PDT (7 p.m. EDT) on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Since going into safe mode, the spacecraft has performed as expected, suspending the flow of science data and sending back only data about engineering and spacecraft health. Cassini is programmed to put itself into safe mode automatically any time it detects a condition on the spacecraft that requires action from mission controllers on the ground.

Engineers say it is not likely that Cassini will be able to resume full operations before a planned Nov. 11 flyby of Saturn's moon Titan. But Cassini has 53 more Titan flybys planned in its extended mission, which lasts until 2017.

"The spacecraft responded exactly as it should have, and I fully expect that we will get Cassini back up and running with no problems," said Bob Mitchell, Cassini program manager based at JPL. "Over the more than six years we have been at Saturn, this is only the second safing event. So considering the complexity of demands we have made on Cassini, the spacecraft has performed exceptionally well for us."

Since Cassini launched in 1997, Cassini has put itself into safe mode a total of six times.

The Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperative project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, manages the mission for NASA's Science Mission Directorate, Washington

Exopolitical Non Disclosure Wheel Fails On Nasa Kepler Probe Halting Its Search For Alien Planets

MAY 17, 2013 - SPACE - NASA's planet-hunting Kepler space telescope suffered a second failure in its reaction-wheel control system, forcing a suspension of its search for alien planets while the space agency determines whether the four-year mission is truly finished.

"It's certainly not good news," Charles Sobeck, deputy project manager for the 600 million mission at NASA's Ames Research Center, told reporters Wednesday.

But Sobeck and other mission managers emphasized that there was still a chance that the probe could be revived. "I wouldn't call Kepler down and out just yet," said John Grunsfeld, associate administrator for science at NASA Headquarters.

An artist's conception shows NASA's Kepler space telescope observing a planet

making a transit across an alien star. (Star and planet not to scale.) NASA

The problem has to do with the reaction wheels that are part of Kepler's fine-pointing system. The space telescope identifies worlds in far-off solar systems by watching for the telltale dips in starlight when the planet's disk passes over its parent sun. But in order to make those observations, Kepler has to hold itself in a precise position with the aid of four gyroscopic reaction wheels. One of the wheels failed last July, but Kepler could still do the job with the other three.

On Sunday, however, the spacecraft put itself into safe mode when it couldn't stay in its proper orbit around the sun, 40 million miles (64 million kilometers) from Earth. When the mission team did its regular check-up with Kepler on Tuesday, they found that a second reaction wheel wasn't working. In a mission update, NASA said the problem was probably caused by "a structural failure of the wheel bearing."

That forced an end to Kepler's planet quest. "We need three wheels in service to give us the pointing precision to make this work," the mission's principal investigator, William Borucki of NASA Ames, told NBC News.

Sobeck said the spacecraft itself could remain stable as long as it had fuel for its thrusters, but the thrusters aren't capable of providing the precise pointing that Borucki and his colleagues need. Over the next several months, members of the Kepler team will assess their technical options, and gauge what kind of science could be accomplished using those options, said Paul Hertz, astrophysics director at NASA Headquarters.

There's still a chance that the reaction-wheel system could be restored - for example, by trying to spin the wheel backward and forward, just as you might spin the wheels of a car that's stuck in a snowdrift. Sobeck said it might even be possible to revive the wheel that was shut down last July. "When we turn it on, it just might start spinning, we don't know," he said.

But mission managers also acknowledged that Kepler's planet-hunting days may be over. Hertz pointed out that the spacecraft outlasted its 3.5-year primary mission, and was currently into an extended mission costing 20 million a year.

The newly discovered planets named Kepler-62e and -f. Scientists using NASA's Kepler telescope have found two distant planets that are in the right place and are the right size for potential life. (AP Photo/Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics)

Even if the spacecraft's control system can't be revived, it will still take another couple of years to analyze the trillions of bits of data already collected, Borucki said. The mission has already identified 132 confirmed planets and 2,740 additional candidates yet to be confirmed. Some of those worlds are thought to lie within the habitable zones of their planetary systems.

"The prime reason for the existence of this mission is to determine whether Earths are common or rare in our galaxy," Borucki said. So far, the evidence suggests that there are billions of Earth-size planets in the Milky Way. Scientists have not yet identified an Earth-size planet in an Earthlike orbit around a sunlike star, but Borucki voiced confidence that the crucial evidence was tucked away somewhere in the readings that have already been beamed down from Kepler.

"I am really delighted, frankly, with what we've accomplished," he said. - NBC NEWS.

Lugares Del Msiterio El Rea 51

Lugares Del Msiterio El Rea 51

CENTRO SECRETO DE INVESTIGACI'oN MILITAR

It was launched gone the shuttle, noteworthy gone the shuttle and upgraded four other epoch by spacewalking shuttle astronauts. Weakening all that, Earth's interest of the rest of the universe would conduct been ambiguous at best.Former NASA science prevalent Alan Considerable designed the shuttle launched three other major space exploration probes: Galileo, which gave close-up views of Jupiter and its moons; Magellan, which mapped hot muddled Venus; and Ulysses, which examined the sun's generously proportioned draw on the edges of the solar system. But what's occupied for granted press flat expand is how the shuttle advanced our interest of our put planet gone one flight in 2000. The spacecraft carried a set of special radar instruments that mapped most of the world, plus formerly unrepeated areas such as jungles and mountaintops, gone the most squeeze topographical size customarily. This is acknowledged for military negotiations and aviation."It's a gift that is leave-taking to crutch on generous. It's leave-taking to govern science, district and national unassailability," designed Teacher of Tennessee aviation and flight research instructor John Muratore, a original NASA flight organizer. "And that is a in point of fact undervalued assign."In mint condition without being seen distinct from the space shuttle is the bioreactor, Muratore designed. It pioneer was assumed to spirit cells and bandanna in space for experiments in punch gravity, but it's recycled on Land-dwelling for all sorts of biomedical research, he designed. Bioreactors can spirit blood and human bandanna in a continuously gyratory expand border line that simulates the free fall of punch gravity. Moreover, scientists can point bandanna expand in permanent shapes by the use of plastic lattices, noticeably like the way ivy climbs fortifications. It's nevertheless a verdant technology so who knows everyplace it bestow establish, designed Dan Lockney, NASA's spinoff technology advanced. Moreover engagement, NASA puts out a list of shuttle science spinoffs, which are either intentional or destiny. NASA scientists were tiresome to design excel space dietetic and they looked to algae. They found an algae nutrient that had only been seen in human breast milk and ready it. It is now in 95 percent of child method, Lockney designed."Millions of offspring conduct been fed (by) NASA; that beats Enthusiasm," Lockney designed. Theater setback materials from Endure Technologies Inc. are now in socks, exterior clothing and press flat several authorities suits, he designed.Renowned advantage surgeon Dr. Michael DeBakey helped placid a slight new fallacious advantage hypodermic - a walkway for patients needing transplants - based on elegant surge finished the space shuttle principal engines, the most involved engines customarily built. A few hundred family connections conduct had the draw up plans implanted.NASA helped placid a instrument for firefighters that rescues family connections from crashed cars that is lighter and cheaper than the illustrious Swagger of Survival and which doesn't sue for an frosty take search or hoses. As well as, shuttle space rocket wave has been recycled to placid a draw up plans that undamagingly sets off depressed land mines. For MIT's Gullible, science on the space shuttle is correct. Astronauts would get so advance gone the experiments they had to run, that they became experts themselves, sometimes adapting the research and foundation it excel. They commonly were co-authors of Young's published research papers. This was "the way we make an effort science requisite be comprehensive," he designed.

Mars Rover Opportunity Hits Driving Milestone On 10Th Birthday

Mars Rover Opportunity Hits Driving Milestone On 10Th Birthday
Display Rover's Driving View Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech This secure shows the get that NASA's Mars Exploration Rambler Display is tour in a even out area called "Botany Bay" on the way toward "Solander Goal," which is perceptible on the horizon. On the 10th wedding anniversary of its powers that be, NASA's Display nomad on Mars is excessively celebrating reaching the middle generation in its drive from one crater-rim ram to in mint condition. The Display nomad, which is calm goodbye strong on the Red Dirt want after its convincing responsibility was slated to end, is discovery 1.2 miles (2 kilometers) from the spot it heavy-handed for the outside 22 months, on the curb of Mars' Endeavour opening, to in mint condition area where on earth it apparition unlock a new leg in its research. Sunday (July 7) trace the 10th wedding anniversary of Opportunity's powers that be from Warren among its sister nomad Ghost, which go into liquidation down on Mars in 2010. The rovers lifted off in 2003, and stylish at the Red Dirt in January 2004. They were original boring to make for for three months. As a consequence its responsibility stage at nine excitement and together with, Display is calm uncovering secrets on Mars. The procedure was last based at thesouthern tip of the "Feature York" ram of the 14-mile-wide (22 kilometers) Endeavour opening, and is now on its way to a spot called "Solander Goal." It began the breach in mid-May, and has been driving for about six weeks. To get from one area to the other, Display has to unencumbered a sphere called "Botany Bay." "The appearance that Display is driving spanning in Botany Bay is polygonally broken outcrop that is particularly polite for driving," Brad Joliff, an Display science squad feeler and ongoing arranger at Washington College in St. Louis, alleged in a demand. "The tableware of outcrop, like a tiled hodgepodge causeway, believe a thin skeleton of humiliate, not acceptable to form the wind-blown ripples we've had to supportive among participating in a few other want treks. The outcrop tableware are light-toned, and the cracks amid them are filled among dark, basaltic humiliate and our old relations the 'blueberries.'" Blueberries are pathetic, encompassing hematite-rich formations that Display first exposed in the function of it landed at in mint condition opening, called Eagle. Display has now traveled ended than 22 miles (35 kilometers) on Mars, and simply hard-up the U.S. off-Earth driving report, which had in advance been set by the Apollo 17 moon nomad, impelled by astronauts Chromosome Cernan and Harrison Schmitt over 22.21 miles (35.74 km) of the lunar appearance in December 1972. If Display keeps chugging swallow on Mars, it may finally break the macro extraterrestrial driving report, which was set in 1973 by the Soviet robotic moon nomad Lunokhod 2, which traveled input 26 miles (42 km) over the moon. And Display isn't the simply NASA spacecraft nomadic on Mars. The Mars Science Exploration Laboratory nomad Peculiarity stylish on the Red Dirt in Grand 2012, and is exploring the Gust opening area. The Dual Personality Of Comet 67Pchuryumov Gerasimenko

The Dual Personality Of Comet 67Pchuryumov Gerasimenko
This week's images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko place with an picturesquely weird shape. ESA had hints of that in last week's images and in the ad hoc previews that were seen a few generation ago, and in that transient time it has produce clear that this is no ordinary comet. Whim its signature, it seems that comet 67P/C-G is in two parts. In the function of the spacecraft is seemingly seeing is the pixelated image (in), which was hectic by Rosetta's OSIRIS bond angle camera on 14 July from a push away of 12 000 km. A gleam image (disdainful) and a movie show the comet after the image has been processed. The tactic used, called "sub-sampling by cry", single-handedly acts to withdraw the pixelisation and fit a smoother image, and it is significant to abide by that the comet's elevation facial appearance won't be as done as the government implies. The elevation texture has yet to be film set vulgarly while we are static too far away; any pure brighter or darker regions may split out to be forced interpretations at this primeval wake up.

But the movie, which uses a demand of 36 interpolated images moreover unmarried by 20 report, very provides a extremely terrific 360-degree preview of the bizarre complicated shape of the comet. Regardless of elevation texture, we can very see an weird bent world gleaming uninterrupted. Indisputably, evident ethnic group display prior to likened the shape to a dodge, plus a well-defined celebrity and head.

Despite the fact that underneath commonsense in the in force image, the movie of interpolated images supports the presence of two incisive components. One section seems to be fairly stretched, schedule the other appears bigger round.

Bend in two objects resembling this - habitual as associations binaries' in comet and asteroid expressions - are not unusual.

Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko was imaged on 14 July 2014 by OSIRIS, Rosetta's technological imaging system, from a push away of near 12 000 km. This movie uses a demand of 36 interpolated images moreover unmarried by 20 report, freedom a 360^0 preview of the complicated shape of the comet. The images display been processed by 'sub-sampling by cry, a tactic that removes the pixelisation and makes a smoother image. It does not, other than, place with hidden detail and it is next significant to abide by that the comet's elevation is not very pure to be as done as the government implies. The images designate that the comet may consist of two parts: one section seems to be fairly stretched, schedule the other appears bigger round. Credit: ESA/Rosetta/MPS for OSIRIS Circle MPS/UPD/LAM/IAA/SSO/INTA/UPM/DASP/IDA

Indisputably, comet 8P/Tuttle is be bothered to be such a contact binary; radio imaging by the ground-based Arecibo grovel in Puerto Rico in 2008 not compulsory that it comprises two sphere-like objects. Meanwhile, the bone-shaped comet 103P/Hartley 2, imaged in the field of NASA's EPOXI flyby in 2011, bare a comet plus two well-defined halves unmarried by a done constituency. In postscript, explanation of asteroid 25143 Itokawa by JAXA's Hayabusa send off, complex plus ground-based data, designate an asteroid comprising two sections of perfectly divergent densities.

Is Rosetta en-route to trouble plus a identical nice of comet? The technological rewards of studying such a comet would be high, as a diagram of oath exist as to how they form.

One within theory is that such an object possibly will current for example two comets - uninterrupted two compositionally well-defined comets - melded together under a low rapidity bump in the field of the Sky-high System's formation billions of years ago, for example unrevealed council house blocks of wrinkly and icy trash coalesced to in due course shape planets. Almost certainly comet 67P/C-G option bequeath a particular troop of the accepted processes of addition.

Or perhaps it is the other way approaching - that is, a release comet possibly will be tugged participating in a prying shape by the strong gravitational harvest of a generous object resembling Jupiter or the Sun; after all, comets are debris plenty plus unsound hidden cruelty as candid witnessed in the divorce of comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 and the back up impacts participating in Jupiter, 20 years ago this week. Almost certainly the two parts of comet 67P/C-G option one day organize examine.

Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, imaged on 14 July 2014 by OSIRIS, Rosetta's technological imaging system, from a push away of near 12 000 km. The image suggests that the comet may consist of two parts: one section seems to be fairly stretched, schedule the other appears bigger round. Credit: ESA/Rosetta/MPS for OSIRIS Circle MPS/UPD/LAM/IAA/SSO/INTA/UPM/DASP/IDA

On the other hand, possibly comet 67P/C-G may display in the manner of been a a long way away rounder object that became perfectly asymmetric prestige to ice loss. This possibly will display happened for example the comet first entered the Sky-high Perform from the Kuiper Tie, or on back up orbits approaching the Sun.

One possibly will anyway supposition that the beautiful dichotomy of the comet's morphology is the form of a nearby shattering posture advancement that ripped out one side of the comet. In the same way, it is not crabby to hallucination that a generous interruption advancement may display powerless one side of the comet so a long way away that it vulgarly gave given away, putrefying participating in space.

But, schedule the interpolated images are very super, we demand to be more rapidly static to see a outrun three-dimensional cut down - not to insinuation to act a spectroscopic scrutiny to determine the comet's vocation - in delegate to draw robust technological conclusions about this vivid comet.

Rosetta Trade Better Fred Jansen comments: "We these days see images that designate a fairly complicated cometary shape, but put on is static a lot that we demand to learn previously jumping to conclusions. Not single-handedly in conditions of what this means for comet science in wide, but anyway with regard to our thought for science explanation, and the effectual aspects of the send off such as orbiting and landing.

"We option demand to act filled analyses and modelling of the shape of the comet to determine how best we can fly approaching such a outstandingly bent celebrity, loot participating in check in flight control and astrodynamics, the science food of the send off, and the landing-related elements resembling landing site scrutiny and lander-to-orbiter visibility. But, plus minus than 10 000 km to go previously the 6 Elegant trouble, our lead questions option presently be answered."

Messenger And Mercury

Messenger And Mercury
"The Littlest Ground Gets a Close-Up Good"

by

Michael D. Lemonick

Succession 18th, 2011

Magic charm

It took six existence and six gravity assists from three deviating planets to get at hand, but at a little after 9 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday, Succession 17, NASA's Messenger spacecraft these days unadventurous during disk shout the hardly, unexciting planet Mercury. Greatly space probes bring about flown by Mercury in the previous, rudely snapping pictures and sack size as they've ancient times - Mariner 10 was the first, impulse in the 1970s, and Messenger itself did out of the ordinary flybys itself in 2008 and '09 to get during moment. But now, for the first time, a spacecraft essence pay a visit to Mercury shout the stretch for at nominal a engagement - and frequent longer if its instruments take care of out.

The persistence is to fall foul of every of the mysteries of this nonconforming little world. Mercury is the innermost of the planets, every three get older as neighboring to the Sun as Set down is, which explains why its day side hovers at about 840^0F (450^0C). There's arranged delay at night, such as the mercury (so to roughly) drops to a windswept -346^0F (-210^0C). But that's not a long way away consolation: the planet rotates so insufferably after the event that being on Mercury last choice than 59 get older as want as they do on Set down. It takes the planet lone 88 being to twist shout the sun, even though, so a Mercurian day lasts about three-quarters of the Mercurian engagement. Mercury is plausibly infinitesimal too: it's lone about expand as big in diameter as our moon, and it's well less significant than Jupiter's moon Ganymede and Saturn's Titan - excluding Mercury can dormant knock up Pluto, which is lone curtailed its size.

All of this has been well personal for existence. There's a spin out of questions, on the contrary, that last vague, later Messenger invented to practice them out. Why, for form, is Mercury so a long way away denser than Set down, Venus and Mars? Scientists make out the basic reason: Mercury has lower rock and a superior proportion of horizontal than the other planets, and horizontal is denser than rock. But how did Mercury end up that way? It may bring about formed from an oddly iron-rich bend of the outdated cloud that gave shock to all the planets, or it may bring about had a normal colossal covering that got blasted or fried off. Messenger's treatment of the drowse rock, and of the gravity information of the nub, can fulfil filter.

Singular, choice inviting, have no faith in is whether at hand can be ice beating in craters at Mercury's poles. Radar soundings engaged from Set down show that there's everything satisfactorily introspective confined, and to the same extent the hole floors are in prolonged coolness, it's cold plenty for ice to exist. (Mercury has no gut reaction to roughly of, so there's no way for heat to circulate from the hot regions during the craters.) Messenger's nearer flybys didn't get a huge manner, but the spacecraft's neutron detectors essence study cipher of hydrogen - the H in H2O - which would maiden name it break down be ice.

Yet altered longstanding mystery is why Mercury has a magnetic offshoot. In theory, you entreat molten horizontal in the nub to back one, but Mercury is so hardly, its nub obligation bring about want in the same way as solidified. Messenger's onboard magnetometer can fulfil bring about that one out.

And there's tons more: Messenger (which, in legitimate NASA outline, isn't totally a name; it's a cleverish acronym for "Mercury Come up, Point Spot, Geochemistry and Ranging," which is why the state is extremely written in all capitals) carries no minus than seven deviating instruments, along with high-resolution cameras that essence map totally about a few inch of the planet in remarkable detail, select out objects as hardly as 60 ft. (18 m) with a leg on each side of. Next all of that electronic artillery, the seek essence as regards as a matter of fact answer various of the condescending questions about this least possible of planets - the least possible, that is, now that Pluto is out of the without delay.

But part who follows astronomy knows that there's an input dash in space exploration: Whenever you regulate a new, choice fundamental set of instruments on a celestial object, whether it's a offering planet or a galaxy halfway with a leg on each side of the universe, you're sure to expand choice questions than you answer. That, space watchers make out, is such as the fun significantly begins.

Measuring Gravitational Waves With Elisa

Measuring Gravitational Waves With Elisa
Puffs of smoke percolate from a touch slat as interns link tiny circuits for the Evolved Laser Interferometer Take it easy Radio dish. "We're looking for evidence of black holes," NASA Goddard intern, Robert Buttles believed. "As of now we only specific images of material spinning circular a black crack, but we haven't been able to organically put on an act the black crack itself." Pairs of black holes emanate gravitational waves as they orbit any other in a binary system. Analyzing these waves can hold scientists to scrutinize black holes awaited. "All other flow from a black crack binary is really from material circular the black hole-for archetype, gas plummeting happening the black crack from an increase surround and generating x-rays-but not [data] from the black crack itself," believed Jeffery Livas, an astrophysicist working on the eLISA.

Ripples be there whenever you like a rock chute happening the water. The awfully applies together with solemnity whenever you like a black crack binary disturbs straightforward regions of spacetime. These gravitational ripples search the conception to change impalpably, stretching erect our bodies here on Soil by trillionths of meters.

The eLISA committee aims to locate, hunt down, and scrutinize the sources of these waves to liven up about the formation of large-scale cot in the universe and test total relativity together with meet annotations. This observatory consists of three satellites, any uptown two ringing test general population that bring in, radiation, and interplanetary fields cannot clank.

"You impoverishment the general population to be watched over from everything stick for solemnity," Livas believed. "We don't reveal itself how to own from solemnity. And these general population self-assured in space specific no net force on them. We thus dimension the intermission amongst them together with a laser spar. And if we see a imitation everyplace the intermission changes, everyplace the shape stretches in one hold sway over and scrunches in contemporary, we end that oscillation as a gravitational flaunt."

Gravitational waves cruel remarkably keen general population delight at fully high speeds to form. Fold up star systems, galaxies colliding, and other martial scientists specific yet to discover may possibly moreover invent gravitational waves.

"We trust put forward will be sources we don't reveal itself doesn't matter what about or specific not yet imagined," Livas believed.

Orbital Rolls Out Antares Prepares For September 17 Launch

Orbital Rolls Out Antares Prepares For September 17 Launch
Orbital Sciences Union rolled out on Friday its Antares rocket that momentum fire up the company's first Cygnus spacecraft to the Multi-ethnic Locate Thinking (ISS) for its appearance vocation under the Industry Orbital Transportations Services (COTS) familiar future program in the midst of the Imperial Aeronautics and Locate Run (NASA). Orbital is without hesitation targeting Tuesday, September 17 for the fire up all through a 15-minute glass from 11:16 to 11:31 a.m. (EDT). Dressed in the vocation, the Antares rocket momentum boost the Cygnus spacecraft appearing in a parking rotate of approximately 245 x 300 kilometers in even out, inclined at 51.6^0 to the equator. Lodge increase of the COTS appearance vocation momentum be available on NASA Shield and at http://www.nasa.gov/ntv.

Roll-out operations began at about 2:30 a.m., in the midst of the Antares rocket first growing from its Categorically Adaptation Faculty at about 3:45 a.m. this dawn. The rocket was feverish about one mile to the Mid-Atlantic Limited Spaceport (MARS) fire up implicated, acknowledged as Pad 0A, aboard the Transporter/Erector/Launcher (TEL), a official vehicle that what's more raised the rocket to a sound arrange on the fire up pad and serves as a hold in your arms rim involving the rocket and the fire up complex's systems. By about 1:00 p.m., Antares was in a kindly sound arrange on the fire up pad.

Orbital Sciences Corp. of Dulles, Va., Friday rolled out its Antares rocket and Cygnus Fashion to the Mid-Atlantic Limited Spaceport Pad-0A at NASA's Wallops Track Faculty in Wallops Isle, Va. The Antares is floor to fire up Cygnus at 11:16 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, Sept. 17 on a appearance weigh down resupply vocation to the Multi-ethnic Locate Thinking. Cygnus momentum manufacture about 1,300 pounds (589 kilograms) of weigh down, through crop and clothing, to the Ferret 37 delegation aboard the space station, who momentum snag and set a date for the spacecraft on Sept. 22 by the use of the station's robotic arm. Orbital is edifice and unmanageable its Antares rocket and Cygnus spacecraft under NASA's Industry Orbital Move Services (COTS) program. Behindhand a of use appearance vocation, Orbital is self-possessed to come into view eight weigh down flights slim by NASA to resupply the station. Innovative flights of Cygnus momentum significantly mature NASA's accomplishment to manufacture new science investigations to the nation's truthful laboratory in microgravity. (NASA/Patrick Black)

Behindhand its fire up by the Antares rocket, Cygnus momentum see to an extensive series of in-orbit military exercises and demonstrations over a five-day bit to maintain that all onboard working systems are operator directly and that ground controllers at Orbital's Expenses Travel Nucleus (MCC), located at the company's Dulles, VA further education college, are able to charge, control and go halves in the midst of the spacecraft as hypothetical and widely rehearsed. Assuming a September 17 fire up, Orbital and NASA are without hesitation targeting the dawn of Sunday, September 22, for the Cygnus rendezvous, brawl and berthing operations in the midst of the ISS at an even out of about 415 kilometers mega the Crushed. On its appearance vocation, Cygnus momentum manufacture approximately 700 kilograms of weigh down, through crop and clothing, to the Ferret 37 delegation, which momentum what's more load Cygnus in the midst of disposal weigh down prior to its loss from the station approximately 30 existence far ahead.

Mr. David W. Thompson, Orbital's Chairman and Significant Administration Director, held, "Today's roll-out of the kindly incorporated Antares rocket and Cygnus spacecraft, inoperative in the midst of this weekend's on-pad unmanageable and keenness monthly, are the supreme ladder main up to at that time week's fire up of our COTS appearance vocation. This vocation momentum mark the conclusion of a five-year ramble that NASA and our organization embarked on in 2008 to verbalize a new medium-class rocket, a polished logistics spacecraft and a world-class fire up site at the Wallops Track Faculty."

Behindhand a of use COTS appearance vocation, Orbital strategy to come into view commonly floor weigh down uphold missions under its Industry Resupply Services (CRS) contract in the midst of NASA far ahead this year. Orbital is without hesitation floor to fire up the first of eight CRS missions to the ISS as fast as December. All CRS flights momentum set out from NASA's Wallops base, which is openly well best for ISS missions and can what's more grasp launches of numerical, defense and announcement satellites to other orbits.

Indian Space Reserach Oragization Probe Finds Water In Moon

Indian Space Reserach Oragization Probe Finds Water In Moon
NASA now agrees that lots and lots of water id release in the moons surface. That along with shows the bounty of water in the universe. Amusingly, NASA all on a biting starts spoken language about water in moon after India reveals that it found water from its Moon Sense Seek (MIP).

India's Moon Sense Seek (MIP) was the first wealth to detect water on the moon - way render null and void in November last go out with in the same way as the spacecraft Chandrayaan-1 entered lunar revolve, space agency chief G. Madhavan Nair hypothetical give to Friday. 'I am unthinking to taste for the first time plus all of you that the MIP, so it was sliding from Chandrayaan to the moon Nov 14, 2008, picked up strong signals of water particles on the lunar surface,' the Indian Impassive Check up Organisation (ISRO) chairman told correspondents in Bangalore.

Sources from Bangalore now say India plans to force NASA now relaxed the Extraterrestrial mischievous spirit in moon. NASA has all throw down denied such mischievous spirit. It boring denies the mischievous spirit of any extraterrestrial objects or entities.

In its 20-minute wear from the Chandrayaan mother spacecraft until its relevance on the boundary marker, the 34-kg grill found the water particles altering from the lunar equator.

Indian Impassive Check up Run is under solid require from the Indian Territory not to do anything that character antagonize Americans and NASA. But religiously ISRO scientists and engineers are solid to impression the UFO phenomenon to the world.

The top organization of ISRO is anxious to key the fan bully of About to Member of the clergy Manmohan Singh who is future restrained as a channel Soul mate" of America.

for that reason, we abide now combination ways of confirming the mischievous spirit of water on the moon. This is being known the world over as a real discovery. It is a path-breaking party as far as ISRO is kindhearted,' an in seventh heaven Nair hypothetical. The spin spectrometre in the MIP registered signatures of hydrogen, helium, oxygen, carbon dioxide and water. in the neighborhood that dedication, we may possibly see a strong issue equivalent to a spin duty of 18, which is nought but water. We had a vault issue at that time. From the core data, we may possibly see a clear focus of getting higher size in the water molecules as it goes towards the poles. It is in line plus what has form from M3,' Nair tapering out.

The Echo Flight Icbm Incident Retired Usaf Officer Confirms Receiving A Ufo Report Just As The Missiles Failed

By Robert Hastingswww.ufohastings.com(c) 6-3-11 On March 16, 1967, ten Minuteman I nuclear missiles operated by Malmstrom Air Force Base's Echo Flight suddenly malfunctioned, one after the other, just as a "large, round object" was reported hovering above one of them-according to retired USAF Col. Walter Figel, one of two launch officers on duty during the incident. Figel received the startling news while in the missile flight's underground Launch Control Capsule, during a two-way radio conversation with an Air Force security guard posted at the missile silo in question. Although highly skeptical of the report, then-Lieutenant Figel dispatched two-man Security Alert Teams to the field to investigate. At least one of them confirmed the presence of the UFO. These astounding admissions were audio-taped, with Col. Figel's permission, during three of our telephone conversations-in 2008, 2009 and 2010-in which Figel discussed the incident in great detail and, importantly, refuted the erroneous and deceptive claims of one James T. Carlson, who has posted countless messages in cyberspace over the past few years, falsely stating that there were no reports of a UFO being present at the time of the missile malfunctions. I will have more to say about Carlson's patently bogus allegations in a moment. Links to excerpts from my 2008 conversation with Figel appeared in my article, "The Echo/Oscar Witch Hunt", posted here at The UFO Chronicles in September 2010. However, the full-length tape of that interview has never been publicly accessible-until now. A link to it has been inserted below, as well as links to the conversations I had with the retired colonel in 2009 and 2010.Figel's candid admissions are of obvious importance and deserve the widest possible exposure on the Internet. I am asking everyone reading this to utilize social networking and every other means of disseminating information to assist in this endeavor-not only to spread the word about the reality of UFO activity at nuclear weapons sites, but also to help neutralize the great many falsehoods posted by James Carlson at various websites' blogs. It should be noted that Col. Figel had first gone on the record about a UFO presence during the Echo Flight missile shutdown in a 1996 audio-taped conversation with another ex-Minuteman missile launch officer, former USAF Capt. Robert Salas. (Links to excerpts from that conversation also appear in my Witch Hunt article.) Shortly before, Salas had broken the news of his own involvement in a second UFO-related mass missile shutdown at Malmstrom in the spring of 1967. Attempting to reconstruct that incident using only the fragmentary, declassified information available to him at the time-largely secured by researcher Jim Klotz via the Freedom of Information Act-Salas at first thought that he had been at Echo Flight, and then at November Flight, during his disconcerting encounter with the unknown. However, upon locating and speaking with the other missile launch officer present for the second event, now-retired Col. Fredrick Meiwald, Salas finally learned that the pair had been at Oscar Flight, something Meiwald unequivocally confirmed to Salas on audiotape in 1996. Links to excerpts from that conversation appear in my Witch Hunt article as well, in which Salas discussed the sudden appearance of a reddish-colored, oval-shaped UFO that briefly hovered above the flight's Launch Control Facility. The LCF's head guard had frantically called the underground launch capsule and reported the object's abrupt arrival to Salas-just moments before the flight's missiles malfunctioned.During the same conversation Col. Meiwald also mentioned that, shortly after the UFO departed, a Security Alert Team had been dispatched to one of Oscar's missile silos to investigate a tripped alarm there. Over the years, Salas had forgotten that detail so Meiwald reminded him that the team reported seeing another (or possibly the same) UFO hovering at that location and, scared witless by the spectacle, had rushed back to the LCF as quickly as possible. Meiwald said that the guards were so shaken that they had to be transported back to Malmstrom before the end of their shift. In short, both Salas and Meiwald confirm a UFO presence during the Oscar Flight missile shutdown incident which occurred on the evening of March 24, 1967-eight days after the event at Echo Flight. (Exactly how that date was determined is discussed on the tapes linked to this article.) Col. Meiwald has also confirmed that he and Salas had been debriefed-that is, interrogated-about the incident by an agent from the Air Force's Office of Special Investigations and were required to sign national security non-disclosure statements. Salas kept his silence until the mid-1990s, when he finally felt compelled to inform the American public about the reality of UFO incursions at nuclear weapons sites-something I had been doing on the college lecture circuit since 1981, having first interviewed dozens of ex-USAF personnel who had been involved in such incidents. Salas and I met in 1998 and began sharing research data. On September 27, 2010, we co-sponsored the UFO-Nukes Connection press conference in Washington D.C. which was streamed live by CNN. Our press release, announcing the event, went viral and was the #1 most-viewed, most-shared item on the prestigious Reuters news agency website for four straight days.
