1. I was walking my dog outside. I DO remember hearing fireworks, and at first I thought that this was just a firework. However, it didnt explode ever, made no noise, and was flying insanely fast across the sky - coupled with the fact that the fireworks that I was hearing were atleast 5 miles away whereas I saw this light streak across my field of vision above me - going very fast and travelling very far. I assume that a firework wouldnt be able to travel very fast, and would burn out relatively quickly (not go horizontally for 5 miles)
2. Nothing really "made" me notice the object. In fact, I just happened to look into the sky thinking I might get lucky and catch a meteorite while walking my dog (Im a sort of amateur astronomer).
3. At first, I thought either I had seen a meteorite or a firework (or a plane). I ruled out fireworks (mentioned above), and then also could not think that this was a meteorite, it was travelling completely horizontally (as if unaffected by gravity), and wasnt encased in flame but rather had a perfect cylinder of yellow light with one dot in the middle. Ive never seen such an irregular pattern of light in a meteorite before. Also, I considered it to be a plane, but I am a pilot and have never seen such lights on a plane before in my life. I am honestly a huge skeptic of UFO encounters/abductions/animal mutilations, and I honestly dont believe in all of those shenanigans. But after seeing this on local television of a person with a similar experience (and saying "if you have seen something like this contact MUFON"), I felt that perhaps my input would be valuable.I can of course provide many more details via email.

It was going in a very straight line, and it had a circle of yellow light with a dot in the middle. 5. Feelings, reactions? Uh, normal feelings. Nothing really changed. I was slightly excited; I had wanted to run inside to grab my iphone and snap a picture but I figured that I didnt have time to do that (and had my dog on the leash trying to go to the bathroom).

This report covers one such sighting which occurred in Leicester back in the mid 80s.

SIGHTING DETAILS
The incident took place in either 1985 or 1986. The witness, John, was only about 9 years old at the time, and his younger brother Antony was 7. One clear sunny day they were playing in the back garden f their house when they suddenly noticed a light in the sky. They went round to the front garden to get a better look at whatever it was. They saw a strange object in the sky. It looked like a glowing white vertical line which was gradually expanding and then contracting in length continuously. It appeared to be quite large in size, about the same size as a football pitch. It was about 400 feet in the air and to John's recollection about 200 feet from their position. As it was expanding and contracting it was also moving slowly across the sky on a straight path.
They watched the object for about 2 minutes during which he believes the object flew right over their heads. It was not moving particularly fast, perhaps the same speed a small aircraft moves at. After this time they ran inside the house to get their gran, who was on the settee in the living room. She came outside with them and they all watched it fly over a block of flats. Then their gran took them both back indoors, and the incident was never mentioned again.
I have contacted the witness to request for further details and to see if I can speak with his brother about the experience, but so far have not heard back from him, so this is all the details that exist on the sighting so far.
SIGHTING ANALYSIS
From what has been reported, the object sounds like it could well have been something out of the ordinary. However I do wonder if it was a white un-tethered solar airship. These are long plastic cylinders that are filled with air. On a hot day the air inside them heats up and they drift up into the air. They can be very large in size, and it is possible to make them by joining together numerous bin liners. Often these objects tip up vertically and appear as a long cylinder or cigar-shaped object hanging in the sky. Could the odd way in which the object appeared to be expanding and contracting in length have actually been caused by a white coloured solar airship rocking back and forth in an air current? If viewed from a certain angle this could give the impression that it was getting longer and shorter. That said, solar airships have only really become popular in recent years, I am not sure whether they were even known about back in the mid 80s. It could have been a home-made one created from white bin liners, however these do tend to bend like a snake rather than retain a completely straight shape. Therefore I wouldn't say that this sighting could definitely be explained away as a solar airship.
If it wasn't one of these, I cannot really suggest anything else mundane which could explain what was observed. It certainly did not look like any known conventional aircraft. If it was an inflatable of some kind drifting in an air current it is unlikely that it would have appeared to continuously expand and contract in length, it would have surely rotated or rolled on its axis. I know that I will piss off lots of people but this is a prelude to a longer essay pointing out that of this date not one shred of proof has yet come to the table that extraterrestrials are visiting Earth, have visited Earth, or are on their way.
Sure there's lots of "evidence" but without solid physical proof it's still just ONE theory as to the origin of SOME UFOs.
What that means is that there are many theories as to the origins of some UFO reports. Theories like this include top secret government craft that we know has been the case several times. That some UFOs have been and are advanced private air and spacecraft that are unregistered. That some UFOs may be life forms we've yet to classify.
There are many theories and the most exciting being that some UFOs are of extraterrestrial origin. That theory alone has spawned more theories and speculation to the point of overwhelm. There are societies, religions, groups that claim to have the inside knowledge and far too many times has led to disaster and fraud. You've got to be on your toes for this.
I know there are some who'll point to the Billy Meier case. A Swiss farmer who years ago presented several startling films, pictures, and books regarding his experiences. Sure it's all entertaining and amazing but where is the physical proof? If these aliens meant so well it's certain they're aware that no one in government and science believes them, so why the stonewalling? It's simple, they're either incredibly stupid or they don't exist. It doesn't get any more complicated than that.
Oh, the Betty and Barney Hill case? One of the classics of this phenomenon. A couple from America claimed to have been observant of and abducted by extraterrestrials. An exciting case no doubt, but where is the physical proof?
Roswell. The mother of all UFO incidents. Lots of documents, speculation, books, tv, movies, but where is the physical proof?
Not one government, friend nor foe has come forward with any physical proof whatsoever in over 60 years of this phenomenon.
Why? Ask yourself "Why?".
Now, does this mean that extraterrestrials and/or their mechanisms hasn't or aren't visiting Earth? No. What it means is that there is no physical proof to support it as conclusive.
There's much more and even the trace cases, samples of flora, fauna, soil of areas where a UFO report has occurred are nothing more than evidence that something occurred or affected said at the location of a UFO report.
Let's get oriented here as we may be missing out on a more prosaic but unsettling theory with far more physical evidence but shunned by even the most fervent UFO fan. That theory I'll deal with in a longer essay as it would be so disturbing, if true, than any visit by extraterrestrials.
So again, at present, not one iota of proof has emerged to conclude that ETs are in any way, shape, or form a part of our development on Earth. That could change tomorrow or a year from now or a century from now, but as of right now there just isn't anything. Sorry to hurt the feelings of those awaiting a spectacular landing and the emergence of the "Space Brothers" who'll bring in a new age of benevolence but that's so far from the farm there's no way you can milk the cows.
So stand by for a further dissertation.
