I was standing in my backyard at 4AM smoking a cigarette, gazing at the sky when I saw a light move across the horizon slowly, then start to make abrupt, precise movements. When it first came into view, I thought it was a satellite making a pass, then it stopped. It seemed to stay stationary for a few seconds, then start moving back and forth horizontally. When it moved it seemed to return to it's original position each time. After 5 or 6 times going back and forth it made a sort of spiraling motion downwards, like when you drop a feather. It continued to make quick position changes afterwards, alternating between the horizontal back and forth movement, and making a sort of triangular path. The apparent distance traveled altogether was never more than the distance between the stars in Orion's belt. I've never been a believer of UFOs, but this was no airplane or helicopter.
